“Learn & share” at the 7th FITBONE® User Meeting in Barcelona

Information on recent technological advances in connection with FITBONE®, the intramedullary lengthening nail, an interactive workshop on holistic surgical planning and a chance for surgeons and distributors to share experiences: these were the highlights of the 7th FITBONE® User Meeting in Barcelona (Spain) from October 20 to 23, 2016.
The FITBONE® User Meeting was organized by WITTENSTEIN intens GmbH, which not only manufactures FITBONE® but also initiated the Center of Excellence (COE) concept – a network of qualified surgeons specialized in leg lengthening and extremity correction with the lengthening nail.
**International participants, interesting agenda** The invitation was accepted by experts from all over Europe: one particular highlight on the agenda was an interactive planning workshop on the Reverse Planning Method (RPM) developed by Professor R. Baumgart, which proved to be a valuable source of information, ideas and instructions for preoperative planning upfront of FITBONE® procedures. The User Meeting also included presentations on new treatment options for various pathological conditions with the FITBONE® as well as tips and tricks for this kind of operation. WITTENSTEIN intens then demonstrated a series of improvements to make the treatment even more patient friendly. This unique opportunity for physicians to share their experiences both with actual FITBONE® procedures and with specific treatment and healing processes using this minimally invasive technique was a major factor contributing to the success of the event for all concerned.
**Plans already underway for the 8th FITBONE® User Meeting** WITTENSTEIN intens has already begun planning the next FITBONE® User Meeting in 2017. It will be held at the Center of Excellence Stockholm (Sweden) and led by Dr. Stephanie Böhm and Dr. Henrik Lundblad.
