Our Journey

1949: Walter Wittenstein and Bruno Dähn founded DEWITTA in Steinheim, producing glove sewing machines. 1952: Moved to Bad Mergentheim; 1963: Relocated to Igersheim. In the 1970s, declining glove demand led to diversification. 1979: Manfred Wittenstein joined, marking a new era.

The 1980s marked a turning point as WITTENSTEIN embraced innovation and global expansion. In 1983, the company introduced its first low-backlash planetary gear units, revolutionizing precision drive technology. This breakthrough positioned WITTENSTEIN as a leader in high-performance gearing solutions. 

2001: Expansion into mechatronic drive systems. 2008: WITTENSTEIN SE formed. Continuous innovation in servo systems and cybertronic technologies. By 2019, the company operated worldwide with strong R&D focus.

2024: Celebrated 75 years of innovation. Today, WITTENSTEIN is a global leader in cybertronic drive technology with 2,900 employees and over 40 sites worldwide.
