Precision for tiny screws

STÖGER AUTOMATION relies on compact drive solutions for automated screwdriving in confined spaces

The right turning for the screw system

For the precise screwing of miniature screws – for example, in mobile phones or hearing aids – STÖGER AUTOMATION relies on highly dynamic miniature servo motors and intelligent drive amplifiers from WITTENSTEIN. The solution comes without additional sensor technology and impresses with its dynamics, precision, and flexible integration.

Challenge of miniature screws

STÖGER AUTOMATION has developed an innovative dual screwdriver system that drives in miniature screws (M1 x 2 mm) in less than a second – without sensor-based torque measurement. Thanks to the small servo motors of the cyber® dynamic line and the cyber® simco® drive amplifiers from WITTENSTEIN, precise tightening is achieved with less than 0.05 Nm. A special MotionTask controls the speed for error-free screw connections. The solution is flexibly adaptable and meets the high requirements for speed, precision, and variety.

STÖGER AUTOMATION: LEADER FOR SCREWDRIVING AND FASTENING SYSTEMS
STÖGER AUTOMATION GmbH, based in Königsdorf, Germany, is a technological leader in the development of process-reliable screwdriving systems. Over 8,000 systems are in use worldwide – from hand-held screwdrivers to fully automated systems for series production. The company's willingness to break new ground makes it a sought-after partner for demanding applications.

The WITTENSTEIN servo technology helped us develop a screwdriving system that sets benchmarks for miniature screws.

Compact servo technology for high precision

Four small servo motors from the cyber® dynamic line are used in the dual screw system from STÖGER AUTOMATION – two for the screw movement, two with integrated ball screw drive for the Z-axis. Thanks to its small footprint, size 22 allows screws even in hard-to-reach places.

The motors are controlled by cyber® simco® drive amplifiers, which enable precise torque control with high current resolution and programmable motion tasks – without the need for additional sensor technology. The solution is scalable, flexible to integrate, and ready for use in other machine types.

Close cooperation with WITTENSTEIN cyber motor has resulted in a powerful, industry-standard solution that combines speed, precision, and adaptability.
