Hygienic design increases efficiency in food processing machines
How Provisur uses WITTENSTEIN servo actuators to implement open machine architectures for better cleaning, improved hygiene, and higher productivity.
Hygiene as a competitive factor in food processing
Productivity and food safety are directly related in industrial processing. At the same time, frequent cleaning cycles and tight installation spaces significantly increase the demands on machine concepts and drive technology.
The solution lies in a consistently hygienic drive concept.

Hygienic machine architecture with robust stainless steel servo actuators
Provisur recognizes that an open machine design enables significantly more effective cleaning and disinfection – a crucial factor for food safety and efficiency.
Working closely with WITTENSTEIN, the engineers developed a solution based on the axenia servo actuator made of high-quality stainless steel with protection class IP69. This robust drive is directly acid and pressure resistant, meaning it can withstand aggressive cleaning agents and high-pressure water without the need for additional protective housings.
Precision and hygiene combined: servo actuators for demanding food applications
The servo-electric axenia actuators combine the drive motor and gearbox in a compact unit. This reduces the installation space and assembly effort and also enables maximum precision and dynamics during cutting and positioning movements, which are required in food processing.
Developed for particularly demanding applications and manufactured from highly resistant stainless steel. With IP69 protection class, these actuators can come into direct contact with high-pressure jets and cleaning agents without damaging components – a clear technological advantage in hygiene-critical environments.
- Hollow-space-free design
- Long service life thanks to the use of CIP-compatible materials
- Integrated, optimized sealing concept
- Resistant to aggressive cleaning agents and disinfectants
- Strong motor performance
- Low backlash in the gearbox
- Hygienic connection between motor and gearbox
The combination of mechanical precision, stainless steel protection, and dynamic servo drive is a real game changer for hygiene-critical applications.

Proof of concept: Provisur Ingenuity Center
For end users in meat processing, there is no more important decision than choosing the right cutting system. Productivity, profitability, product quality, and food safety all depend on cutting technology.
The close collaboration between Provisur and WITTENSTEIN provides the solution. New designs undergo rigorous testing at the Provisur Ingenuity Center.
With a team of equipment and application experts, new products are developed, existing products are refined, and processes are tested, ranging from cutting and grinding to forming, coating, and cooking to cutting and automatic loading. The optimized SX330 and SX380 cutting machines underwent intensive cleaning, splash water, and performance tests at the Provisur Ingenuity Center. The machines exceeded all expectations.
